I have shared before how we all tend to look towards that “one day …when” and how dangerous it is for our present day living.  In effect, we say that one day, perhaps when I die, I will step into the Arms of the Lord and start living the good life I desire.  But I don’t think that that is His desire for us: that living life be allocated to some day in the future?

We can waste away our lives waiting for one day.  We cannot always be focused on another time.

We are born for this day, this time, “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14).  We are designed and divinely timed to be on this planet now, at this time, in this day and age.  We all have in us, the ability to live in this century, not say the 1800’s, or 1100’s or even 2025!

Let me suggest that if you are alive today, God wants you on the planet today.

Acts 17:26-28 “From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.  God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out to him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.  For in him we live and move and have our being.”

Ps 139:16 “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

You are meant to be alive today, living, breathing, fulfilling your purpose, not waiting for One day.

People have different attitudes to today.  Some say carelessly, “Live today, for tomorrow we die!” as if God does not hold our future in His hands and as if our future is not determined by our actions today.  Others are fatalistic saying, “Que sera sera – whatever will be, will be!” as if we have no influence on our life experiences.  The bottom line, if we don’t live the time allocated for us, being alive to today, we can waste our lives waiting for “One day.”  One day is not going to fulfill us, make us happy, today is the day.  Do something, today!

Then-one-day-she-decided-to-design-a-life-she-lovedGod has got plans for us today! We know Jeremiah 29:11 where God says: “I have plans for you…”  His plans are for today, not for One Day in the future.

You may intellectually agree with everything I have said today, but now the question is:Do you have plans for yourself?

Made any plans for today, for the now you are living in?  Or are you opting out of life: waiting, dreaming, singing about “One day…” and not making sure you are living today.  Do you feel that your life is being wasted?  Do you wonder what we are on the planet for?  Do you wish you lived in another time?

John 10:10 Jesus says that He came to give us life, abundant life.  That life he speaks of, is present tense – the one we live today! It does not just refer to eternal life, but also refers to each day of our lives that were planned in the Book of life before we were even born. (Psalm 139:16)

Plan to Live, make plans.

Each of us has a responsibility to live this life we are given.  One day, we will stand before the Lord and give account for how we decided to live it (Rom 14:12).  Have you planned your day?  Do you have plans? Instead of just hoping and waiting around for eternity, perhaps you can do something to start developing the potential that God planted in you.

God has plans for you!

Father forgive me for living in a stagnant manner, waiting for “one day…”  Forgive me for not taking action, not preparing, not learning, not praying.  Help me to start focusing on living each day to the fullest.  To make each day beautiful and to number my days carefully.  Help me to remember that although time moves on, You are the God of time and You can redeem time and make all things beautiful.  Help me to look around me and figure out why You put me on this planet, for such a time as this.  Help me to remember that Your mercies are new every morning and that You are good to those who look to You. I confess, that today I will start to live.  Amen.

We have Plans for Today and a Great Hope for Tomorrow.
