Evaluate my Faith, Lord

Mark 9:24

“Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, ‘I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!’

Welcome to Week 2 of my Faith Series!

I exclaimed: “Lord I believe, help me in my unbelief!”  This is the cry of my heart.  I know my faith is not strong or consistent, where do I even start to strengthen or change it.  Lord I need your help, help me to honestly look at my faith and recognise where I go wrong.  Evaluate my heart and mind Lord and show me where there is work to be done. Amen

To evaluate: to judge the significance, worth and quality to someone or something.  It involves collecting information from analysis, observation, results, activities and outcomes.  Evaluation’s purpose is to make judgement on effectiveness in order to bring about improvements and inform decisions.

The desire to evaluate my faith was not to condemn myself, or walk around in guilt, but to make an honest evaluation of my faith as the Lord instructs us to:

“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realise that Christ Jesus is in you – unless, of course, you fail the test?” (2 Cor 13:5)

Sometimes it is good to take an honest look at our spiritual lives and examine it according to the Word of God.  Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Rom 10:17) and putting it into practice and an honest evaluation would be a good start.
