What does God actually know? Ever heard someone say: “I don’t know, but God knows.” Or “Don’t worry, God knows.”  I was meditating on what it means when I say to myself: “God knows.” Here are some thoughts:

faviconGod knows everything
there is to know.

1 John 3:20 “…we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.”

The term used to describe this is ‘Omniscient,’ it means having infinite awareness, understanding and insight.  God knows everything about the past, present and future, He does not say: “Oops, this is news to me, I didn’t know this.”  His knowledge is total.

faviconGod knows everything about US.  This is all that we struggle with; our current situation; what we are going through; who we are and how we operate.  He even knows those things which we do not know about ourselves.

God knows 2Psalm 139:4 “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.  You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.  You discern my going out and my lying down;    you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.”

Gfaviconod knows about the injustice, evil and wrong in the world and how it affects the lives of people.  His heart knows the pain it causes and He is aware of suffering.
He will judge
, but His judgment waits for the appointed time, wanting to give all people an opportunity to repent from their ways.

1 Cor 4 :4-5 “…It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart.”

holdonGodknows2 Peter 2:9-10 “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.”

faviconGod knows the eternal purpose of what seems to be “unfair” cards that we have been dealt.  The things we carry as burdens that other people are not appointed to carry.  As much as we cannot see the purpose in it, or why we should be asked to carry it, He knows its eternal purpose.

“At that time Jesus said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.  Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.”  Matt 11:26-26

At the end of time, on that day of understanding, it will be the Father’s good pleasure
to reveal all things, then like children trusting a Father, we will see His wonderful, perfect, magnificent plan and then rejoice with wonder and delight because “He makes all things beautiful, in His time.” (Ecc 3:11)

faviconGod knows what you need.  Where ever you are, whatever you carry, whatever your need, your Heavenly Father knows.  As we seek Him first for our needs, He provides everything we need without fail and we can trust Him to provide like a child.

godknowsneeds “For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matt 6:32-33)

faviconHe knows the future and He goes ahead of you to provide everything you will need on your path.  So far has He gone before you, that right now Jesus is preparing the place for you in heaven.

John 14:1-4 “ ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.  You know the way to the place where I am going.’

faviconHe causes us to know, through the power of the Holy Spirit which has been given to us (1 John3:24).  The Holy Spirit reveals all the truth that is necessary for me to know.

“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. “ (John 14:26)

godsheartIn this way, God reveals His heart and purposes to me.

“You have made known to me the paths of life;  you will fill me with joy in your presence.”(Acts 2:28)

Through revelation I may know Him for myself and mysteries He reveals to me. Col 2:2-3”… in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

Thank you Lord, that You are the source of all knowledge and that You know me intimately.  Thank you that through your Holy Spirit You reveal truth to me.  Thank you that You know me.
